The Final Artwork

Artwork Title: Face The Earth

Visual Treatment:-

Art Movement: Naive Art and Lowbrow Art

Reference Artists: Jose Rodriguez Fuster (naive art) and Robert Williams and Gary Panter (lowbrow art)

Theme: Global Warming

Ideation and Concept:
The earth is where living creatures (humans and animals) lives. All creatures are faced with the danger of the existence of earth if no one is to preserve the earth from the harmful elements that threaten the earth.

This art portrays the two sides of the earth, destruction versus creation.

"Face the destruction" (red and orange side of the face) signifies the earth is in danger from global warming and burnt to death, if this destruction prolongs.

"Face the creation" (blue and green side of the face) shows that the earth thrives on luscious greeneries (plants) and lively blues (sea, water) which create and maintain life forms on earth.

Face the Earth Progression

Firstly, solid colours are to be applied.

Continuous solid colouring on the sketch.

Then, some burnt effect using the burn tool is applied and the whole is coloured with solid colours of different shades.

Finally, some texture effects are added onto the earth.

Then, black background is filled to show the colour contrast and chose to have the fire to be in black to show  more "destruction".

More flying leaves are added and lighter shades of blue are to be coloured around the edges of the blue side d face.

Comic Saiyuki

During tutorial, Mr. K asked us to tell our story of our childhood comic. This is my most favourite one since young until now.

The story is based on the Chinese novel "Journey to the West". It depicts the story of four diverse persona with dark past on their quest for enlightenment from the demonic world. The most captivating part of the manga is the characters and the storyline. It has life-lessons to be learnt. Most importantly, I had a long crush with the blonde guy of the manga since the first time I read it. He is the broody, dark and mysterious type. Also, the manga was turned into an anime which made me adore it much more!

HARD

We were asked to create a mood board during one of our tutorials and I chose the hard theme as me mood. Hard represents hard core (music and art terms), strong, aggressive,in a good way of course ;)

Bonnaroo Music Festival

This week Mr.K taught us about the power of photojournalism and we are required to present our form of photojournalism. Thus, this is my concept of "Summer Music Festival", which I have always been dying to attend since my first watch of the Glastonbury Summer Music Festival, UK and my first "summer music festival" in Sepang a few months ago. A summer music festival usually last about 3 days and it consists of many musician acts across the globe and locally.

Scorching hot sun! Sexy bikinis! Shirtless! Tanned lines!

Yess...indeed it is the time of the year again, let's cheer S-U-M-M-E-R!

When it is summer, summer music festival is here to blaze the ears of every music lovers!

Be brazen of the hours of endless melodies and rhythms of the best summer year!

BONNAROO, here we come!

Cheers!

Burning House

I always jog pass this house while I'm on my jogging sessions. It gave me an idea of the Global Warming themed art project. The result is a BURNING HOUSE, literally.

Idea: A house homes people and keep one save and comfortable. Same goes the earth which homes many living creature and giving us a comfortable lives. Instead of letting our "house" burn and die, we should protect it.

Imagine the house looking like an Earth with the silhouette of this house design or similarly. Fiery flames will engulf the "house".

Inspiration expansions

Sketch 8 (face the earth):

The earth is "human" (human's face), human must not/ cannot kill another human as it's inhumane. Thus, we should protect our earth!

One side of the earth's face is sad looking cause it is being burnt (global warming). For the other side, the earth is smiling as it is "protected' with greeneries and not harmed (looking alive, hidden message: plant more greens to save the earth).

Message: Save planet earth

Surrealism, pointillism and symbolism would be used.

Sketch 9 ( plastic earth):

The earth is squeezed out of life from the much usage of plastic bags (the funny looking shaded round at the bottom part).

Message: Reduce the usage of plastic bags to save the earth (recycling themed).

Surrealism and minimalism will be used.

Sketch 10 (endangered earth):

The earth is melting due to global warming. The raged human-like tree is the solution to global warming (plant a tree to reduce the global heat).

Message: Save/plant trees to save the earth from dying of global warming.

The strip lines in the background would be colored in cubism movement with the 1st five stripes in different shades of blues and greens (symbolises the coolness and calmness of the earth of planting trees to save the earth) and the 2nd five stripes in different shades of red, orange and yellow (signifies the heat of melting the earth).

Cubism, symbolism and pointillism would be used.

Again, hope more to come by my mind soon and so I can start narrowing down to my final piece.
